Mark is an experienced sports performance professional with a diverse portfolio of roles serving adult and youth football players, as well as professional athletes across various sports. With over a decade of expertise in football science and sports performance, he has held senior positions at the Academy, Club, International, and Federation levels, including titles such as Head of Football Science and Medicine, Head of International Physical Performance, First Team Sports Scientist, and Director of Sports Science and Strength & Conditioning.
Mark’s experience spans multiple sports, including swimming, athletics, badminton, hockey, gymnastics, sailing, triathlon, and cricket, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of performance science. His expertise enables him to deliver high-quality training, injury management, and physiotherapy support to athletes of all levels.
He has also worked as a consultant for a variety of sports clubs and associations globally and has even provided injury prevention strategies for e-sports athletes. Beyond his consultancy work, Mark has shared his knowledge by lecturing at the University of the West of Scotland, where he contributed to the Strength and Conditioning module, further demonstrating his dedication to educating future practitioners in the field.
Mark’s academic journey began with a BSc in Sports Coaching, which he followed with an MSc in Sports Science and an MPhil specializing in Strength and Conditioning and Injury Prevention. He then completed an MSc in Physiotherapy to further expand his knowledge base. His qualifications are complemented by certifications and professional memberships with prominent organizations, including FIFA, the United Kingdom Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA), the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES), and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) in the USA.
