What Should I Expect on my First Visit?

You will be greeted by reception and or your physiotherapist.

The physio will briefly check your past medical history form and then ask you about your injury/problem.

They will then examine the area, aim to give you a diagnosis of what is wrong with you before giving you either some advice, exercises or treatment if time allows on the first session.

The physio will then book you in for a follow-up appointment so that the physio can assess your injuries reaction to the fist visit.

They will also start the treatment plan which will usually include a combination of hands on and exercise based treatment.

What Physiotherapist Would You Recommend Seeing?

All of our physiotherapists are registered with the HCPC and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

Some clinicians have a more specialised interest in certain fields than others such .

The best thing to do is look through the Meet The Team section on the About page and see who is the best match for you.

What Should I Wear?

Typically we need to expose the region where you are suffering pain from.

If it is an upper limb problem or a back issue women are recommended to wear a sports bra/appropriate bra/top that reveals the shoulder/back etc.

Men usually remove their t-shirt or jumper.

If it is a lower limb knee of ankle problem then shorts are fine.

For the hips and pelvis loose fitting shorts may be appropriate.

If you have any concerns surrounding this then please call and speak to our admin who can advise.

Is Physiotherapy Treatment Painful?

After assessment and treatment on your injured area it is normal for that region to sometimes be achey or sore for the next 24-48 hours.

Painkillers and ice packs can be helpful to settle this down.

In some severe cases it can take 7-10 days for your post-treatment pain to resolve.

If you want to discuss this then please give us a call.

How Long Is Each Session?

For a private cash paying patient the initial assessment is 45 minutes long, and the follow-up appointments are 30 minutes.

For Private Medical Insurance appointments these are instructed by the 3rd party. Typically the the initial assessment is either 30 or 45 minutes long, and the follow-up appointments are 30 minutes.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

This is based on a number of factors;

You can discuss this with your physiotherapist and plan this together.

How Do I Find Your Clinic?

Glasgow:

The clinic is located just off Paisley Road West behind the Aldi supermarket on Tweedsmuir Road. We are right next door to the Dental Practice in an annex building. When you arrive knock the door and the physiotherapist will greet you.

Edinburgh:

Head into the main entrance at the Waverley Gate Building, and walk round to the left across the foyer and past the coffee shop stand. Go through the doors and take the lift down to minus second floor. Outside of the lift you will see the GYM Group door entrance. Next to the door entrance is a stand with a bell on it. Press the bell button firmly and wait for the physio to come and collect you.

Stirling:

Head down Causewayhead Road and turn under the railway line into the rugby club car park. Take a right and drive down to the bottom of the car park. Use the main entrance and then go straight ahead through the second double door. The clinic is immediately on the left hand side.

Grangemouth:

Located at Invergrange House, 5 Station Road, Grangemouth, FK3 8DG. Parking is available within the Grangemouth ASDA car park, and the clinic building is a short walk back around onto the main road.
