Xabi completed his undergraduate BSc (Hons) physiotherapy degree in 2012 at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. He started his career in the NHS in Forth Valley and has since worked in private clinics in Scotland and Spain. He has always maintained an interest in sport and has worked with Falkirk FC, Forth Valley Football Academy and is currently on the staff bank at the Scottish Institute of Sport.
Through his connections with the Scottish Institute of Sport he has worked with a number of different sports, including triathlon, curling, cycling, mountain biking, hockey, swimming and rowing. He has also attended a number of international training camps and competitions in Europe as well as the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014. Xabi is passionate about sport and enjoys swimming, running, cycling, triathlon, surfing and gym workouts.
He has an enthusiasm for learning and is currently finalising his dissertation for his MSc in Sport and Exercise Physiotherapy at Cardiff University.
